Hedonism 2.0
Take a break and feeling it: live act at Fax Factory, Rome (March 2020). Second iteration of hedonism, from canvas to ritual.
Critical text
Hedonism 2.0 is the performative translation of the Hedonism cycle. Where in painting I had worked on hedonism as an ethical attitude. the courage to be the uniqueness we are, to dissociate from conformist society. in performance I wanted to test it on the body. No more metaphor: practice.
At Fax Factory I activated a live act of an hour and a half. Colors on the ground, brushes, bodies. The audience invited to enter the painting, walk on it barefoot, paint with me, dance when the music asked for it. There was no distinction between those who watched and those who acted.
Hedonism 2.0 is a rite: an hour and a half in which pleasure is not a sin but a survival technique. Where irony is not cynicism but a way of taking things seriously without taking yourself seriously.
It's my answer to the lockdown of March 2020, before everything shut down. One last kiss to the world before it became a blurred image behind a screen.
